Observer VS Participant

The brain seems to have an amazing ability to take multiple perspectives all at once.
Often though, when we are too caught up in life, we see red and are fully present in the moment. Being challenged and triggered. However, in other cases, playing a game of football can see us fully present in the moment too.
Similarly, planning and reflecting can help you increases emotional distance between you and a traumatic event and assist in the healing process. But it can also stop people from just taking action in their lives because they feel the need to plan a lot more.

So the states of observing or participating are not bad, rather when we access them.
Addressing lop-sidedness and its development is important if we want to be someone who can master ourselves for the benefit of others.

“The observer, when he seems to himself to be observing a stone, is really, if physics is to be believed, observing the effects of the stone upon himself.”

Bertrand Russell
